OTTAWA and ICME Conference 2018

This year’s Ottawa conference took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates alongside the International Conference on Medical Education (ICME). The OTTAWA conference takes place every two years in various locations and is focused around assessment within medicine and healthcare. Each conference is associated with another and this year the collaboration was with ICME which focuses on the reform of medical education, using international standards and applying these in developing countries.

Online Educa, Berlin

Chara Balasubramaniam, Lindsay Germain of Bayer Plc, and Sheetal Kavia, Terry Poulton of St George’s, University of London, led a workshop titled “Creating impactful learning: Learning through scenarios” at Online Educa Berlin on the 8th of December 2017. The workshop, categorised as a BusinessEduca session, was fully subscribed on the day with 40 learning and development professionals attending the session predominantly from business but also academia.

MEFANET 2017

MEFANET is an internationally recognised and well-established network of medical faculties in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Its main objectives are to support the implementation of modern information technologies in medical education and medical curricula, and to combine them with the latest teaching trends and techniques. Activities of the MEFANET network also involve an annual conference, which was held for the 10th time in 2016.

WAVES meeting in MEFANET, Brno

The 4th WAVES face-to-face meeting took place on 27th and 28th November 2017 in Brno, Czech Republic. The project meeting was followed by the 11th MEFANET conference where the WAVES project delivered a workshop and a Key Note presentation focused on Scenario Based Learning and WAVES outcomes.

WAVES project meeting and IEEE CBMS 2017

The last WAVES project meeting took place in Thessaloniki, in June 2017. This meeting brought together the 6 Project Partners (St George’s, University of London, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Karolinska Institutet, Masaryk University, Instruct and Bayer) to discuss and plan the implementation of the project outputs.

7th University Business Forum, Brussels

As representatives of the WAVES project, partners from both St George’s, University of London and Bayer Plc participated in the 7th University Business Forum (6–7 April 2017) in Brussels.

MEFANET 2016

The 10th year of the traditional MEFANET conference was held on 29–30 November 2016 in Hotel Continental, Brno (Czech Republic). In the keynote lecture session, the floor was given to two invited speakers from abroad.

The second face to face WAVES project meeting took place in Barcelona 28th August 2016 taking the opportunity that the AMEE conference, one of the most important conferences in Medical Education, gathered most of the WAVES Partners in this city.

AMEE 2016 – Innovating in Education

This year, the Association of Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) organised its annual conference in Barcelona Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona (CCIB),. The WAVES consortium, disseminated the project during the conference via an exhibition stand dedicated to the project and network.
