St George’s, University of London 2018 Education day

St George’s, University of London’s eighth annual Education Day took place on Wednesday 14th November 2018. The day brought people together from the University, Joint Faculty, and NHS Trust to explore the theme of ‘Innovation in Education’, while showcasing educational research, teaching and learning innovations from across our community.

The day saw an array of workshops, presentations and posters, as well as a roundtable discussion on innovation at SGUL.

During the day there was a dedicated eLearning stand in the break out area for staff and students to find out about the work being carried out by the eLearning Unit which included flyers and information on the WAVES project and network. Sheetal Kavia kicked off the break by presenting from an engaging poster on the project. The poster informed the audience of the aims for WAVES and information on toolkit resources for the end user. Her captivating poster resulted in winning a 1st prize for best poster.

So you want to develop a MOOC?  Was the topic presented in a workshop by our team later on in the day. Together with academic leads, they delivered an informative presentation, with an introduction on MOOCs, followed by do’s and do nots on creating a MOOC and a breakdown of our WAVES Virtual Scenario MOOC called, “Using Virtual Scenarios to Create Effective Learning”.
